Some of the 60 students in Creighton University's Freshman Leadership Program (FLP) spent Friday, Nov. 20 carving more than 200 pounds of turkey, mashing 120 pounds of potatoes, mixing 10 gallons of gravy and preparing 400 rolls for the annual Precious Memories Thanksgiving Dinner fundraiser.

Creighton University Professor Robert Garis Dies

Robert Garis, a Creighton University associate professor of pharmacy sciences who spent much of the last decade exposing costly and often questionable practices among pharmacy benefit management companies (PBMs), died Nov. 13 of cancer. He was 59.

Creighton Named University Partner by Cristo Rey Network

Creighton University has been named a national University Partner by the Cristo Rey Network. As such the University, the only one in Nebraska, joins an elite group of 20 institutions of higher learning who are partnering to support the mission of Cristo Rey. This network of urban private schools combines education with college prep rigor while giving students experience working in corporate and other professional job settings

Creighton Commemorates 20th Anniversary of Jesuit Martyrs

On Monday, Nov. 16, Creighton University, along with Jesuits and the world-wide Catholic community,will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the assassination of six Jesuits, their housekeeper and her daughter in El Salvador. A special 5 p.m. bilingual Mass will be held at St. John's Church on Creighton's campus. On Saturday, Nov. 14, at 4 p.m., students will construct a Martyrs Memorial on the church steps that will include visual displays honoring the victims and their commitment to faith. The memorial will be available for viewing over the weekend through Monday, Nov. 16.

The 20th annual Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) Mission and Identity Conference was held at Creighton University Nov. 6-8. More than 52 representatives from 27 of the 28 Jesuit colleges and universities across the nation gathered to reflect on supporting their faculty, staff and administrators in understanding and contributing to Jesuit and Catholic mission and identity. Participants included vice presidents and administrators entrusted with promoting the mission and identity of their schools.
